Nir-Oz Book
The book serves as a kind of "guide" aimed at preserving a bit of the kibbutz that is destined to be destroyed and rebuilt. Kibbutz Nir-Oz was severely damaged by the attack on the morning of October 7th. About a quarter of the kibbutz population was killed or kidnapped to Gaza, 70% of the houses were burned, and the kibbutz has remained empty since. As we toured the kibbutz, we couldn't ignore the beauty, the flora, and the wild nature that appeared amongst the houses. Alongside all these, the silence, the absence of people and the sounds of fighting beyond the fence created a dissonance that we found difficult to grasp. We tried to capture this experience in a book that preserves every door of the kibbutz homes and represents a stroll between the house facades, the greenery, and the burnt areas. In the book, you can meet some of the characters we talked to during our tour of the kibbutz and hear their perspective on the present reality.
